Ingrown Toenails

This is a painful condition that usually affects the side of a toenail, the skin can become inflamed and infected due to pressure. This can be caused by a wide or curly nail shape. Sometimes it is possible to manage this with careful nail cutting technique, other times this condition requires a minor operation. Surgery is performed at the clinic with local anaesthetic to numb the toe first.

Nail Care

Our Podiatrist can look after your regular nail care cutting. Our Podiatrist will be able to professionally trim your nails and prevent any problems.

Orthotics

Our clinic is able to prescribe orthotics. Orthotics are recommended for foot and ankle pain. A biomechanics assessment is performed and a plaster cast of your feet is sent to the lab to ensure a good fit. Our Podiatrist can discuss your footwear and activity levels with you and will prescribe appropriate orthotics.

Plantar Warts

This is a small growth that usually affects the bottom of the foot. It is caused by a virus and can be painful, especially if it is in a weight bearing area. There are several treatment options that can be used and your doctor will discuss the best options with you depending on the location and type of wart you have. This can include topical applications and needling under local anaesthetic.

Nail Problems

Thick toenails can be uncomfortable and cause problems with shoe fitting. Some common causes of thick nails are fungal infections and trauma to the nail bed.

Wound care

Foot ulcers are slow healing wounds. There can be many factors which contribute to them being slow to heal. Our Podiatrist will be able to examine your feet and identify any areas to improve your bodies ability to heal the wound and will work with you to achieve this goal.

Callus and Corns

This is thick hardened skin that is caused by friction and pressure. On the top of the toes and foot and sides of the foot it can be caused by tight or poorly fitting shoes. On the sole of the foot it can be caused by your foot mechanics and/or foot shape. Relief from pain caused by calluses/corns is achieved by debridement or filing of the hardened skin.

Diabetic Foot Assessment

It is recommended that people with diabetes have a foot assessment at least once a year. If there is any foot disease it can be recommended to have one more often.
